Classic Rock, R& B and Beatles Tunes this Friday in Old Town Temecula

 Open Road, a band comprised entirely of professional  studio musicians and teachers, will be featured this Friday, August 5 at Old Town Temecula's Hot Summer Nights. Whether it's blues, rock or jazz, this band of four provides a huge sound featuring Kenneth Rice on the saxophone, guitarist Buddy Mercer, bass guitarist/singer/songwriter,  and drummer/vocalist Paul Pierce. Together they cover every favorite rock, R&B, blues and jazz tune  on any playlist. They will play at Baily's from 7 to 10 p.m.

Additional bands August 5 include Guilty Conscience (Pop), Silver Beatles, (tribute band), Valley Winds Big Band,  and Sean & Donna.

Guilty Conscience is a popular top 40s cover band from the Temecula area. With a wide range of vocals, and extensive play list, if you have a favorite tune, it's likely  Guilty Conscience will play it.

"Fans often pitch in tip money to get this band to play just one more song. We've extended Hot Summer Nights hours this year to accommodate the encores of bands like Guilty Conscience," stated Melody Brunsting, event promoter.

Guilty Conscience plays on the patio at Temecula Cheese Company from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The Silver Beatles take you on an audio " Magical Mystery Tour" with the entire Beatles' Repertoire from Ed Sullivan to Sgt Peppers. Ahh, but they do come visually complete with costume change too. This look and sound has given the  Silver Beatles gigs at numerous city concerts around Southern California . They were also included in the "Beatles Revolution Lounge" at the Mirage in Las Vegas. They play at Sweet Lumpy's from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

For big band fans, pull up a chair and be ready to cut a rug at Tesoro Winery's parking lot as the Valley Winds Big Band will play a variety of big band sounds from Les Brown to Brian Setzer. They play from 6 to 9 p.m. Bring your fold up chairs, this lot often runs out of chairs during Valley Winds concerts. This is a community band of 17 members. Contemporary acoustical musicians Sean and Donna will play on the patio at Villa di Calabro from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There are also prizes and games with Mike Dellinger of Q103 as he hosts Hot Summer Nights and crazy balloon creations from Dynamite Dave.

Bill Magee Blues Band, Guilty Conscience and Two of Us Help Kick Off Friday Nights in Old Town Temecula

Hot Summer Nights IS BACK!!! And it starts Friday, July 8th (Cal's Birthday) and runs froma 6-10 p.m. Bill Magee Blues Band headlines the evening - playing from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Baily's Courtyard. Other activities in Old Town begin at 6 p.m.

Bill Magee's storied past saw him get his start in 1963 by sitting in with The King Curtis Band at the Paradise Club in Harlem. Magee became friends with one of the guitarists - Jimmy James and they formed the band Jimmy James and the Flames. In 1967 James went to Europe and the next time the U.S. heard, James had reclaimed his birth name ... Jimi Hendrix.

Magee went on to play with The Kansas City Playboys, performed with James Brown, B.B, King, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Water, Jimmy Reed, Otis Redding, John Lee Hooker and Bo Diddley.

The Bill Magee Blues Band has been nominated dozens of times for best blues band at the San Diego Music Awards and won the honors in 2003 and 2004. They have played at the San Diego Street Scene, San Diego Blues Festival, San Diego County Fair, Gator By The Bay, Cox Arena, Pala, Harrah's and Viejas Casinos, as well as the House of Blues, Humphrey's by the Bay and The Belly Up Tavern.

New to Old Town Temecula's Hot Summer Nights is Cole Collective, a San Diego bred funk-jazz group led by Wesley Cole Switzer, a Berklee College of Music alumni. The band includes local saxophonist Waylon Hicks, Asha Sukumar on violin and Tom Atkins on drums. They will play from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Villa di' Calabro patio on Main Street.

Guilty Conscience, the popular top 40s cover band from the Temecula area, will play at Sweet Lumpy's on 3rd Street from 6 to 9 p.m. This band’s set list includes top pop, rock and R&B tunes.

The Brewer Boys, a duo that caught attention their first time out last year during Hot Summer Nights, has entertained regularly at The Merc. A family band with Justin (17) and Nathan (13) the duo sings a wide range from new country to pop and classic rock. Born and raised in Temecula, The Brewer Boys become a "band" when they are joined by drummer Tom Wiker, Ray Agueros on bass and Vince Mendoza on lead guitar. They will play at the Temecula Cheese Company from 7 to 10 p.m.

The always entertaining Older than Dirt Band will also play Friday, July 8th at the alcove near Rosa's Cantina from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Additional entertainment includes Q103.3's Mike Dellinger emceeing the evening with games, info and music, Dynamite Dave and his crazy balloon creations, and a giant big blue dog party jump.

Island Party Music,Country and Beach tunes this Friday in Old Town Temecula

Shake ... shake...shake -- you're way to the Island Party sounds of Upstream Friday, Aug. 27 for OldTown Temecula Hot Summer Nights.

Hailing from Triidad and Tobago, this band is the real deal with -  reggae, Soca, Calypso, steel drum and beach party sounds. Band leader "Haile Blackman" (Lead Vocals, Guitar, Drums, Record Producer & MPC Guardian), explains that Upstream’s ultimate purpose is to take the audience on a journey, a temporary escape from themselves and a permanent escape from boredom. They perform at Baily’s Courtyard from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Also playing Friday at the Temecula Valley Cheese Company is Nitro Express. A country-rock band that blends strong harmonies, virtuoso musicianship and a strong beat whether playing rock, bluegrass, R&B or country, Nitro Express averages 200 performances a year playing at casinos and clubs from Southern California to Arizona and Nevada.

Guilty Conscience will perform at Sweet Lumpy’s. This multi-talented band plays cover tunes from the 80s to current. The seven-piece band can perform everything from classic rock, to jazz standards, dance covers R&B and all points in between. They have played throughout Southern California and locally at many of the wineries as well as Hot Summer Nights for the past three years.

The Valley Winds Swing Band makes one last summer appearance in Old Town at the Tesoro Winery parking lot. Bring your chairs and be prepared to hear big band sounds mixed with new jazz band tunes and all the horns. Solos, swing era tunes from Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, Artie Shaw and Duke Ellington are all in the repertoire. The Valley Winds is a community band and open to all community members. Palomar Hotel has a new band the Brewery Brothers - check them out near 5th Street and Old Town Front.
