Abrakadabra and Sligo Rags tonight in Old Town Temecula

Abrakadabra - back to school blues be gone! Hot Summer Nights features four bands and DJ Geoffrey Gaier this Friday, August 9 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Local blues icon and harmonica player, Rocky Zharp and the Blues Crackers will offer their hot lickin' blues in a free concert at Sam Hicks Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. He'll even give a little talk on what it takes to play the harmonica - blues style. Bring yours along to jam with the band. The Temecula History Museum is open during the concert.
At the Harmony Stage, Abrakadabra will offer their brand of 80s music.  Well-known in southern California for its driving propulsive Latin jazz/pop rhythms, this band boasts a library of 50+ original compositions, as well as an extensive cover playlist.  Influenced by bands like Malo, War, El Chicano and Santana, Abrakadabra is a high-energy, versatile group fusing Latin, Island, Funk, Reggae, Pop and Rock, and adding its own jazzy melodies and pop harmonies to create its unique musical signature. They perform from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Michael Chain Band will perform at Mad Madeline's parking lot. The threat of bad weather cancelled their show on July 26 as some of the players had a two-hour drive. Chain has shared the stage with everyone from Louis Armstrong to Led Zeppelin, and as a songwriter his tunes have been recorded by B.J. Thomas, Vicki Lawrence, Wayne Newton, John Davidson, Eric Anderson, the Mills Brothers and dozens of other artists. Chain's arrangement of "Misty" for Ray Stevens won a Grammy. In Tinseltown, he has appeared in movies and TV . They play 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Headlining the evening is Sligo Rags, the Irish Rock/Bluegrass band that brings out the clogger in everyone. They play at Baily's from 7 to 10 p.m. with hot fiddling by Mike Kelly and great vocals from singer/songwriter Dave Burns. Where your green and arrive early to get a seat for this one.
Dynamite Dave will be at Old Town Front and Main Street  in Old Town from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Discover summer science at Pennypickle’s Workshop/Temecula Children’s Museum from 5:30-8:30 p.m. For information visit www.pennypickles.org.
