Final weekend to visit with Santa in Old Town Temecula & rain plans

Winterfest and Ice Skating continue in Old Town through the Holidays. So pack up the family, kids, visiting relatives and head down to the pretties town in Southwest Riverside County - much less So Cal.

The new civic center lights up like a Christmas tree and there is plenty to gawk over from copper drains, brass plaques (well it looks like copper and brass but I'd hate to be the polisher) to a huge mosaic mural and several water features.

Kids can visit with Santa Saturday and Sunday through December 19 and also on Monday and Tuesday, December 20 and 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. Local Boy Scout Troops and Venture Scouts take Souvenir Photos for a donation. We'll have extra shelter and cover for guests waiting to visit Santa in case of rain.

In case of rain, carollers will be found "indoors" at restaurants and stores. The MSJC Jazz ensemble schedule for Sunday  will be scheduled for another day during the holiday weeks.

Mark your calendar for the New Year's Eve on the Square and Grape Drop Countdown. It's freeeeee! and there is a free party jump, face painting and  Dynamite Dave until 9 p.m.  2 Bands play 6-9 - Valley Winds BIG BAND AND SWING from 6 to 9 at the Civic Center quad/City Hall, and Silver Beatles at Sweet Lumpy's.

Two countdowns one at 9 p.m., with Mayor Comerchero doing the countdown from the city hall balcony where the GRAPES will descend, and Midnight, with Aunt Kizzy'z Boyz and Geoffrey Gaier (deejay) ushering in the countdown. Both countdowns will be broadcast on the Old Town Temecula sound system. Best view is at City Hall - and below the fountain at Town Square. We will have heaters, tables, chairs and canopies for your comfort but suggest you bring MORE CHAIRS, blankets, and picnics are welcome. No alcoholic open containers please. It's against the law. But there are plenty of places to pick up a sip of champagne before or after the countdowns.  See the video.

Help us make a NEW TEMECULA TRADITION!

Ice skating on the Square continues in Old Town Temecula. With the new Temecula Civic Center as a backdrop, the 3,500 square foot ice rink offers hourly sessions and a little snow fall once each session. The rink is open 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. through January 2, 2011. Every Friday at 5:10 p.m. while the rink is in Old Town professional and guest skaters will perform at the rink. Most of the performers train or teach at Isoplex in Escondido. Laser lights help you find the rink at night. Skating sessions are $10 for one hour and sessions are subject to availability. For additional information on pricing, general skate sessions and special sessions please call: 951.694.6.ICE (951.694.6423).
